PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN
Saint Isidore CCD students will be receiving instruction in lessons that are mandated by the Toledo Diocese as part of the Protecting God’s Children initiative on January 10th for 7th through 12th grades. These are age-appropriate lessons for our children that will take place during their regular class time. All parishes in the Diocese are presenting this program to their students.
Opt-out forms were mailed to each family this past week. New families also received a parent guide (which was provided to all families last year) explaining the program. All families will need to return the opt-out form only if you choose NOT to have your child participate. The opt-out form must be received prior to the scheduled lesson (the night of is ok but a phone call or email giving a heads up is appreciated) for your child to do an alternative activity. If you have more than one child in our program, you will receive one opt-out form per child.
The safety of our children is a top concern and we want to work with families to create an open environment where children know there are safe support people in their lives. As such, parents are welcome to attend the class, though this is not required. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns by calling Christine Stuckey (658-2012) or Alison Garcia (399-0647).
St. Isidore Holy Name Meeting will be Thursday, January 11, after the 7pm Mass at Delaware Bend.
Plenary Indulgence Available – March for Life
By special grant of our Holy Father, Pope Francis, Cardinal Mauro Piacenza, the Major Penitentiary of the Catholic Church, has informed the Bishops of the United States that a plenary indulgence can be obtained by the Christian faithful by taking part in the sacred celebrations of the 2018 March for Life (18-19 January 2018). Those that are unable to attend or participate in the March for Life due to age, sickness, or other grave reason, may also obtain the plenary Indulgence, provided that they have the disposition of detachment from any kind of sin and have the intention of fulfilling, as soon as they are able, the three customary conditions of the Indulgence if they spiritually unite themselves to the sacred events of the March for Life, and also having offered prayers and their sufferings or the ailments of their own life to the merciful God.”
The three customary conditions for receiving the plenary indulgence include: sacramental Confession, Eucharistic Communion, and prayers for the intentions of Pope Francis.
