Dear St. Isidore Parishioners,

The St. Isidore Parish Council has been monitoring the financial condition of our parish. We feel we need to bring to everyone’s attention that we are not meeting our day to day requirements with our current income. For quite some time we have been averaging a yearly deficit. The council is currently pursuing as many avenues as possible to decrease this loss, but there are very few discretionary expenses. We will have more details at the open parish council meeting. We invite you to attend the meeting this Sunday after the 10:00am Mass at MD.

Thank You, St. Isidore Parish Council

A Family Perspective: Stoning is not just an ancient act of violence.  Each day in our homes we throw stones of ridicule, criticism, name-calling, and put-downs.  All if it is deadly.  Hear Jesus in today’s gospel:  “Whoever is without sin can throw the first stone.”  Rid your home of violence.  Stop verbal stoning!

Volunteers Needed - During the season of Lent, there are many opportunities to help with the beautiful liturgies leading up to Easter and gain the graces and the fruits of assisting for yourself and others! This is a great way to make an offering for Lent as well as helping out your parish. If you would like to volunteer in some way please speak to, call, or message Rebecca Mansel-Pleydell at 419-439-8660 or Deacon Scott at 419-518-0281.

* Three adults are needed to accept the honor of attending the Chrism Mass at Holy Rosary Cathedral on April 16 to receive the holy oils/chrism for our parish. Many past participants have commented on the beauty of this Mass.

* We are in need of volunteers to participate in the washing of feet on Holy Thursday. This is special sacrifice you could offer up for Lent since we typically struggle to find willing participants!

* Volunteer servers are always appreciated for the Stations of the Cross. Please arrive 10 minutes early.

* We need readers and cantors for the Tenebrae Service on Wednesday April 17. You do not have to be a regular lector or cantor/choir member to volunteer! Anyone high school age and older who would like to read one of the 15 readings or sing one of the responses will be welcome and given instructions.

Thank you for your assistance!

The Pontifical Good Friday Collection – Pope Francis has asked our parish to support the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, which helps Christians in the Holy Land.  Your support helps the church minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools and offer religious education.  The Pontifical Good Friday Collection also helps to preserve the sacred shrines.  The wars, unrest and instability have been especially hard on Christians.  In these times of crisis, the Pontifical Good Friday Collection provides humanitarian aid to refugees.

When you contribute to the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, you become an instrument of peace and join with Catholics around the world in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land.  Please be generous!

Come & See Weekend with the Franciscans - Been wondering what it’s like to serve God as a Franciscan? Perhaps you're longing for something more in your life. Perhaps God is calling you to a religious vocation. Perhaps you're uncertain, but would like to learn more. The Conventual Franciscans are offering a Come & See Retreat, at Mount Saint Francis, IN. Meet Franciscan priests and brothers, talk to some of our students in formation (seminary) and see first-hand what our life is like. Spend some time in prayer and fraternity to listen to the call of the Lord. The retreat provides an opportunity for reflection and to learn about Franciscan life. The retreat begins Friday, May 3, at 7:00 pm and ends by 1:00pm on Sunday, May 5. There is no cost for the weekend. We will send you directions. Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission Needs Volunteers - There are families in your community who need your help to keep their jobs and/or attend school. They desperately need dependable child care. The number of licensed family child care centers and homes are dwindling, leaving these families with limited options for safe, affordable, and loving environments. State funding is available to low income families to help defer the cost of child care in licensed centers and homes. Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission (NOCAC) can assist individuals who are wanting to help fill this void. Please consider this opportunity of becoming a licensed family child care home provider. Why licensed? Reliable weekly pay, being your own boss, having the freedom of staying home with your own children, and helping low income families in your community. Please contact Publicly Funded Child Care at NOCAC, 419-784-2150 ext. 1131.
